624 pp + 56 pages of colour illustrations of tartans (showing 112 in total) + fold-out map at rear, 8 3/4" H. Maroon cloth with gilt lettering on spine, blindstamped decoration on spine and front board. 17 b&w plates, including frontispiece (collated), plus additional b&w drawings in text. Section headings: History of the Clan System; Structure of the Clan System; Celtic Culture; Highland Forces; Clan Insignia and Heraldry; Clan Lists and Statistics; Appendices; List of Coloured Plates of Tartans; List of Clans in Order of Precedence; Index; Coloured Plates of Tartans; Clap Map of Scotland. Small edge tear at bottom of rear free endpaper and on fold-out map at gutter (does not effect map) - both archivally taped, very light browning to edges of text block, wrinkling abd minor tiny tears at top/bottom of spine, light edge wear, slight fading to colour on spine and at top 1" of rear board, very small faint water mark on both boards, minor rubbing and soiling.
