233 pp, oblong large 8vo (9 3/4" H). Profusely illustrated with b&w photographs. Bilingual text (English/French). "Photographers have followed Canada's armed forces into action ever since Captain James Peters took a camera on his way to Manitoba to help put down the Riel Rebellion in 1885. Their achievements are impressive considering the often adverse conditions under which they operated. The many aspects of war, the conflict and suffering are shown in 158 dramatic, full-page pictures. Peter Robertson has prepared an introduction on the history of Canadian military photography, and also biographies of the thirteen photographers whose pictures, spanning the years from 1885 to 1970, appear in this volume." Interior - clean and tight with no previous ownership marks. Exterior - very light rubbing, faint scuff line on front cover, tiny tear/crease at bottom edge of front cover - archivally taped.
