Unpaginated, oblong (9 1/4" H x 11 3/8" D). Colourful lithographic illustrations. "The verses in this book have been chosen from nursery rhymes and familiar animal poems of many countries (Mexico, Germany, France, Hungary, Italy, China, England, Russia, Spain, Czechoslovakia, Latvia & Japan). The authors have long since been forgotten, but the verses have lived because they are warm and lively and appeal to the imaginations of children. The illustrations, printed in seven colors, were done in a lithographic technique on film by two German artists. In each picture they capture the gaity and charm of the poem they have selected. Previous owner's completed bookplate on the front pastedown, small bump at the bottom corner of the front board, light edge wear to boards - more at the corners, now protected in removable mylar sleeve. Dust jacket has one small edge tear archivally taped, light edge wear - mainly at the top/bottom of the spine and flap-folds, light edge wrinkling, two small areas of ink smudges at the bottom corner of the front panel.
