212 pp, 12 1/2" H, maroon boards with gilt lettering on spine and front board. Colour frontispiece. Profusely illustrated with b&w photographs, architectural drawings (floor plans, elevations, details). The English architect, Ernest Newton, RA, FRIBA (1856-1922), apprenticed with Richard Norman Shaw and went on to develop his own pratice, focusing mainly on domestic architecture including many country homes/estates. Tiny foxing marks and light browning to the endpapers, previous owner's book plate on the front pastedown and name at the top of the front free endpaper, a very small edge tear with a crease (archivally taped) on one preliminary page, a separation between the page gatherings at pages 136/137 - pages holding firmly, wear with tiny tears and wrinkling at the top/bottom of the spine, top corner of both boards are slightly bumped, heavy wear at the bottom corner of the boards, light to moderate edge wear, small scuff/tear on the front board, variation in the colour of the boards including some liquid stains causing colour loss.
