Mauve folder (approx. 8 3/4" H x 13 1/2" W) with black tape/stapled edges, black lettering/decoration. A collection of facsimile documents pertaining to the trial and execution of Charles I. All items, including the introductory folder (contents list), are present. Contents: l. Triple portrait of Charles I painted by Sir Anthony Van Dyke in 1653; 2. Several Votes of The Lords and Commons assembled in Parliament; 3. A Proclamation For Tryall of the King; 4. Pages from the Journal of the Proceedings of the High Court of Justice; 5. Charles I's death warrant; 6. A Dutch engraving of the execution; 7. A Looking-Glass for Traytors; 8. Transcripts of the text of exhibits 4 and 5; 9. Seven Broadsheets: Charles brought to trial / Charles refuses to plead / The exectuion / Charles: criminal or martyr? / Cromwell / The Regicides and the Restoration / The religious beliefs behind the quarrels. Several documents have one or more corner creases, document 3 has minor rust on the staple, document 8 has wrinkling/creases and very small tears at the top edge, internal document folder has some browning at edges. Mauve folder has a bump at one top corner, light soiling on rear panel, two foxing marks near folded top edge.
