Sangorski & Sutcliffe bindings (stamped "Bound by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, London, England" on verso of free front endpaper of both volumes) - dark red leather spines/corners, spines with five raised bands & gilt lettering/decoration, patterned paper on boards, with pattern repeated on endpapers, top edges gilt, red ribbon bookmarks. Title page continues:"Edited and Translated by John Addington Symonds with a Biographical Sketch of Cellini by the Same Hand Together with an Introduction to This Edition Upon Benvenuto Cellini, Artist and Writer, by Royal Cortissoz with Reproductions of Forty Original Portraits and Views Illustrating the Life". Title page designed by T.M. Cleland. The autobiography of the 16th century Italian goldsmith, sculptor and author, Benvenuto Cellini. Light toning in margins of pages, light browning on illustration pages, darkening to edges of patterned paper on boards and endpapers, small/tiny areas of surface leather loss on hinges, some areas of light browning on fore-edge and bottom of text blocks, some areas of darkening to leather colour - mainly on hinges and edges. Volume I has a small area of surface paper loss on front board; a 1" split in the leather at the bottom of the front hinge and at the top of the rear hinge; some light waviness to fore-edge of endpapers. Volume II has a 1 1/2" split in the leather at the top of the rear hinge; a few tiny dents on the fore-edge of the text block.
