Superbly reproduced in color, they are enhanced by J. Russell Harper's introduction and a text from Hugh A. Dempsey, Chief Curator of the Glenbow Museum. Dr. Dempsey sketches in the details of de Grandmaison's life, provides a background to the history and way of life of the native peoples the artist painted, and writes informative, sometimes anecdotal, captions about the subjects themselves.
