92 pp, 8vo, soft cover. A collection of letters found in an old sea chest that belonged to Levi Thomas (1872-1933) who lived in Blanche at the southwest tip of Nova Scotia. The letters were from his sister in Massachusetts, who encouraged Levi to move near her where work was more plentiful (which he did), and later letters from his family and friends back in Blanche. The last letter is the only one written by Levi to his brother James. It is a remarkable story and window on the lives of or dinary people and their trials and amusements. Minor wear to edges of covers, front hinge crease, soft crease at bottom of front cover, water mark 1/2" dia. on front hinge, minor scuffing to covers. VG-
