x, lxxiv, 240 pp, 16mo (6 1/2" H). Full green textured leather with darker green stamped borders on front/rear boards. Spine has elaborate blind stamped decoration, gilt banding & date, brown leather title label with gilt lettering. All edges red. Plain brown endpapers, b&w vignette on title page, genealogical chart, small b&w tail pieces. Oval purple stamp on verso of title page "Alexander Gardyne 1883". Mr. Rtison's work, originally published in a small two volume edition in 1795, is here reprinted for the first time in one volume, retaining "only a portion of Mr. Ritson's notes. The rest have been omitted as either irrelevant of inadmissible in a work designed for (young persons)." Light to moderate edge wear to boards and at top/bottom of spine, very small piece missing from bottom of spine label, light rubbing to surfaces of boards and spine, a very small hole (1/8" dia) in margin of page leaf 3/4, a similar hole (3/16" dia) in text of page leaf 203/204, 2 page leaves (pages 25 to 28) are slightly inset and untrimmed, a few tiny foxing marks throughout pages, front inside hinge paper is split but hinge is holding very firmly.
