The incessant trench-holding which fell to the lot of Line Regiments involved continual calls on the courage and endurance of the men. But it seemed best to confine this history to named battles. Among these, a r e i n c l u ded some notable feats of arms which have, so far, not been officially recognised as Battle Honours...."
