1 de Camp, L. Sprague. THE RELUCTANT KING TRILOGY. VOLUME ONE. THE GOBLIN TOWER. VOLUME TWO. THE CLOCKS OF IRAZ. VOLUME THREE. THE UNBEHEADED KING. 3 VOLUME SET.
Del Rey, New York, (1983), Ist printings.
260 pp, 161 pp, 180 pp, paperbacks - 3 volumes. "King Jorian was rather attached to his head. Hence, he felt his promise to steal the Kist of Avlen, a treasure trove of ancient manuscripts on magic, was little enough a price to pay for a chance to escape his own beheading. But when the quest pitted him against one peril after another - a murderous wizard and his giant squirrel, a castle full of executioners, a marauding troop of ape men, and a voluptuous 500 year-old princess who was also a serpent - Jorian wondered if he'd made a good bargain..." Interiors - pages of volume 3 lightly browned, store stamps at bottom and small pen notation at top of first page of volumes 1 & 2, spines flat with light wrinkles on volume 3 but no reading creases. 2 Horwood, Harold. Foreword by Farley Mowat. DANCING ON THE SHORE: A CELEBRATION OF LIFE AT ANNAPOLIS BASIN.
Toronto Douglas Gibson / McClelland and Stewart 1987 0771042027 / 9780771042027 First Edition Hard Cover Very Good Very Good G. Brender a Brandis.
219 pp, 8 3/4" H. Small b&w illustrations. "As (Horwood) describes the land around his home the beauty of his prose is breathtaking, whether he is writing about finches, stars, vegetables, seaweed, beech trees, ponds, garter snakes, or squirrels hiding cookies all over the house. No city-dweller will be able to read this book without a sigh of envy at the life the author and his family have created in 'one of the truly magical places on the earth'. But (it) is much more than just a book about nature described by an expert. For Harold Horwood's detailed observations lead on to a more philosophical plane. The discovery of earthworms knotted to preserve moisture causes him to speculate on DNA and how worms 'remember'. A description of blue herons fencing in a courtship battle, where their razor-sharp bills inflict no damage, leads to the subject of war. These and similar themes are provocative, challenging, and so powerfully written that (his) message has already reduced some audiences to tears." Light wrinkling at top/bottom of spine. Dust jacket has been price-clipped, has very light rubbing, light wrinkling - mianly at top/bottom of spine a flap-folds.

64 pp, 8 3/16" H. Beautifully illustrated with b&w drawings by the author. "Bright Flash, a Dalmation puppy, barked too much. He barked to be let in and out, he barked at squirrels, and he barked at the milkman. Then his family, the Rogers, sent him to a dog trainer, and finally he learned not to bark. That winter the Rogers went away for a month and left Flash at the Farm-in-the-Zoo. At first the puppy was lonely, but gradually he began to enjoy life with all the farm animals. He was now a quiet dog and never frightened them by barking. But one night something happened that made Flash bark again, and when the excitement was over, he proved that now he knew when to bark and when not to." LETTERS TO CHILDREN FROM BEATRIX POTTER., Taylor, Judy, collected and introduced by. (Beatrix Potter.)
12 Taylor, Judy, collected and introduced by. (Beatrix Potter.) LETTERS TO CHILDREN FROM BEATRIX POTTER.
London Frederick Warne 1992 0723237778 / 9780723237778 First Edition Hard Cover Very Good - Good+ Beatrix Potter.
240 pp, small 4to (10 1/8" H). "The chief recipients (of her letters) were the family of her former governess, Annie Moore. Beatrix wrote them long, lively 'picture letters', copiously illustrated with witty drawings and full of funny anecdotes about her pets and her holidays. As she became established as an author she continued to write to young relatives, members of her publisher's family and the enthusiastic fans who loved her books. Sometimes these letters take the form of a supposed correspondence between different animal characters from the Peter Rabbit stories, all written in miniature with their own tiny envelopes. It is a measure of the delight with which Beatrix Potter's letters were received and treasured that so many of them have survived to this day. The picture letters and miniature letters (in this book) are shown in facsimile and (it) is illustrated with photographs and Beatrix Potter's own drawings. Judy Taylor has introduced each section with an account of the children who received the letters, many of whose stories have never been told before. The result is an intriguing and attractive book that reveals much new information about Beatrix Potter and above all demonstrates her unfailing power to beguile children and adults alike." Light wrinkling at bottom of spine, a few tiny dents on bottom edge of boards, some areas of faint discoloration at bottom of boards. Dust jacket has some edge wrinkling, light edge wear, one small taped tear at top edge, light dampness stains at inside bottom edge, light rub marks.
