London Hilger & Watts 1961 Hard Cover Very Good Good
82 pp, 7 1/2" H. B&w photographs, diagrams. "(Provides) an insight into the use of data-handling equipment. Development in the field of data handling is rapid and I have as far as possible chosen instruments and systems that are either in production or have been made in prototype form, but even they are likely to change in detail as techniques and improvements suggest themselves with use and experience. I have therefore given only enough detail to provide a basic understanding of the construction and use of the units and systems. Furthermore, I have limited the scope of this book to shaft-driven digital devices with which I have had most experience. There are of course many other basically similar developments, particularly in the U.S.A., and there are a variety of purely electronic analogue-to-digital converters. To describe these would be an enormous task and would probably be confusing to anyone attempting to grasp the principals of digital instrumentation for the first time." From the Preface. Contents: Incremental Scales; Digital Counting Devices; Direct Reading from Coded Scales; Ancillary Equipment; System Arrangements and Applications; Bibliography; Index. Slight yellowing of pastedowns near hinge, previous owner's name in ink on free front endpaper. Dust jacket has a few tiny edge chips and one very small tear archivally taped, light rubbing/soiling - mainly on rear panel, very light browning on spine and flap-folds, rubbing/scuffing on spine - the word "Data" is partially erased.

HITLER & GELI., Hayman, Ronald.
3 Hayman, Ronald. HITLER & GELI.
Bloomsbury, London, 1997, first edition.
240 pp, large 8vo (9 7/16" H), hard cover in dust jacket. ISBN 0747527237 B&w photographs, family tree. "Few people know about the affair Adolf Hitler had with his niece, Geli Raubal. It started in 1927, when he was thirty-eight and she was nine teen. Already leader of the National Socialist German Workers' Party, he had been imprisoned after the unsuccessful putsch of 1923, released at the end of 1924 and had been banned from speaking in public. It was then that he decided to rent a h o u s e in Obersaltzberg, an small alpine village close to the Austrian border. Geli came to live with him there, together with her mother, Angela Raubal, his widowed half-sister, but the ban was lifted before the Raubals moved in. Hitler could r e la x wi th his niece as he never had before with anyone else, and enjoyed her constant availability. He adored her and they could talk to each other uninhibitedly. The couple shared a strangely intense, passionate relationship, but it was al way s dog ge d b y H itler's intolerance, his chauvinistic attitude to womanhood and his possessive jealousy. Later, the weakening of the bond between (them) coincided with the phenomenal rise in the popularity of the Nazis...In 1931, aged twenty-t hree , Geli Ra ubal was found dead in the Munich flat she shared with Hitler, his revolver on the floor and an unfinished letter on the table. Hitler was shattered by his niece's death, and for the rest of his life couldn't speak of her without becom in g emo tion al... (This book) examines the degeneracy in the family Hitler and Geli came from and the emotional and sexual problems Hitler suffered, thus giving the reader an opportunity to take new bearings on Hitler as a man." New York William Morrow 2013 0062242717 / 9780062242716 First Edition Hard Cover Very Good Very Good
302 pp, 9 1/4" H. Pictorial endpapers, b&w illustrations. "Drawing on his unmatched firearms knowledge and combat experience, Kyle carefully chose ten guns to help tell (American history): the American long rifle, Spencer repeater, Colt. 45 revolver, Winchester rifle, Springfield 1903 rifle, Thompson submachine gun, 1911 pistol, M1 Garand, .38 Special police revolver, and the M16 rifle platform Kyle himself used as a SEAL. Through them, he revisits thrilling turning points in American history, including the single sniper shot that turned the tide of the Revolutionary War, the firearms designs that proved decisive at Gettsyburg, the 'gun that won the West', and the weapons that gave U.S. soldiers an edge in the world wars and beyond. This is also the story of how firearms innovation, creativity, and industrial genius has constantly pushed American history - and power - forward." Light wrinkling at bottom of spine. THE BOYD GANG., Lamb, Marjorie and Pearson, Barry.
5 Lamb, Marjorie and Pearson, Barry. THE BOYD GANG.
Toronto Peter Martin 1976 0887781454 / 9780887781452 First Edition Hard Cover Very Good Very Good-
256 pp, 9 1/4" H. B&w photographs. "On Friday, September 9, 1949, Edwin Boyd (a little drunk at the time) withdrew $2,300 from a Toronto suburban branch of the Bank of Montreal - at the point of a gun. Bullets whistled past Boyd's head as he left the bank. The manager emptied his revolver at the fleeing bandit, but missed every time. Perhaps if Boyd had been shot or captured in the keystone cops chase that followed, his career would have ended the day it began. But he wasn't and it didn't. Two years later, Boyd was the nation's most notorious bandit and the leader of a phenomenon known as 'The Boyd Gang'. The Canadian public was terrorized and screaming for blood - and still more titillating newspaper stories. When Toronto's Sgt. of Detectives Edmund 'The Chinaman' Tong (a Welshman) was gunned down by gang members, the public waited for the final act in the saga: retribution. But the real story - the intrigues, motives, love affairs, betrayals, and the modus operandi of both criminals and police - was more fascinating than the most lurid fabrications dreamed up by the press. This story is told here for the first time." Light wrinkling at bottom of spine, very light browning to edges of text block. Dust jacket has very light edge wear, minor wrinkling at bottom of spine, scattered very small scuff/rubbing marks - mainly on rear panel.
