"The amazing people, animals and creatures that live in the land of Oz are among the best loved of all children's favourite characters. There is Dorothy and her dog Toto, and the Tin Woodman who goes rusty if he cries and the enormous, but very cowardly lion. The scarecrow stuffed with straw sadly accepts that he has no brains, but he is often the wisest of them all during their adventurous travels to find the great and terrifying wizard. Then Tip and Jack Pumpkinhead, whom the wicked witch Mombi has brought to life, travel to the Emerald City, collecting and creating friends on the way such as the temperamental wooden Saw-Horse, the Gump who flies through the air, and the Highly Magnificent Woggle-Bug." Tiny soiling mark on bottom of textblock. Dust jacket has light to moderate edge wear/wrinkling, one small edge tear taped, two small areas of delamination on front flap-fold.

The colour plates and dust jacket are enhanced with metallic 'emerald' green ink, as was the original edition. "Jo in Dorothy and the Wonderful Wizard as they take Aunt Em and Uncle Henry on a fabulous tour of Oz. During their journey they encounter such amazing and amusing people as King Kleaver with his Spoon Brigade and Miss Cuttenclip in the land o f p a p e r d olls. 303 pp, 9 3/8" H. Yellow and brown endpapers, b&w illustrations throughout. The 40th book in the Oz series and the last to be published by Reilly & Lee. When Robin, a young boy in Oregon, manages to grab the brass ring on the Merry Go Round at the carnival, his free ride takes him further than he ever imagined! A few faint soiling marks throughout text block; small soft bump at top corner of first half of pages; light browning and slight soiling to edges of text block; small bump at top of spine; light fading to colors on spine; scattered tiny foxing marks at bottom of spine and bottom edge of boards; slight bump to three corners; minor excess glue on inside edge of rear board; minor cracking in cloth on hinges.
