1 Appleby, Edna (Hill). CANMORE: THE STORY OF AN ERA.
Canmore, Alberta Self-published 1975 First Edition Very Good Good- Signed by Author
163 pp, 11 1/4" H. Signed by author on front free endpaper. B&w photographs, reproductions, fold-out school group (1926) photograph facing title page. Records the history of town of Canmore and the surrounding area. "Once located within the boundaries of Rocky Mountain Park, you observe Canmore changing from a CPR town into the only thriving coal mining town of the entire Bow Valley. Pictures and records of the once existing towns of Bankhead, Anthracite, Georgetown and Kananaskis are spotlighted as they enhanced the development of Canmore itself into the town it now is. The history of Exshaw and its cement plant is also recorded. Traced throughout the book is the development of the Canmore Mines from 1887 to 1974 with a subjective view of the miner and his contribution to Canmore." A few minor very small dents on rear board, minor browning on rear pastedowns. Dust jacket is price-clipped, has light to moderate edge wear and rubbing, a few very small dents and small hole on rear panel, several medium tears/creases with old tape repair at top of rear panel, two very small stains on rear panel.

2 Campbell, Robert E. Foreword by T.U. "Tommy" Primrose. I WOULD DO IT AGAIN: REMINISCENCES OF THE ROCKIES.
Toronto Ryerson Press 1959 First Edition Very Good- Good-
204 pp, 8 5/8" H. B&w photographs. "Urged many times to write the story of his life, Mr. Robert Campbell, now in his eighty-eighth year, finally acceded to the request. The result is this very readable book of reminiscence, rich in humour and history, adventure and anecdote, told by a master storyteller. In a breezy and colloquial style the author tells of his experiences in and around Banff, of his political life, experiences in the army during World War I, and his encounters with important visitors in the Canadian Rockies. This is not only a fascinating story, but a valuable record of early days when the Rockies were just beginning to attract attention as a tourist centre for the world." A few scattered very small light stains on page 49, light edge wear, small bump at three corners, very light wrinkling at top/bottom of spine. Dust jacket has light to moderate edge wear/wrinkling, creases at top of rear panel, several edge tears archivally taped, light rubbing/soiling.

This is the good, the bad and the ugly of partisan politics, and Kinsella argues that all three are necessary for a healthy and democratic political dialogue. But this isn't a cynic's book on how to manipulate the voting public. The advice from the Prince of Darkness is 'stay on message, and stick to the truth'. Those practitioners of the black arts who resort to lies and cheating are most often burned at the stake by the voters. And he marshals plenty of evidence and insider stories from the hottest campaigns and campaigners in Canada and the United States - among them, James Carville, Besey Wright, Haley Barbour and Dick Morris - to prove his point. Your'll learn about push-polling, frugging, ratf**king, quick response, dirty tricks and oppo, and you'll learn how to counter them all. You'll be treated to Kinsella's Twelve Handy Tips for Surviving Encounters with Unethical, Unscrupulous, Unprincipled Political Journalists, as well as to his unique rating system on whose political reporting you can trust. This is a must-read not only for political junkies but also for marketers and PR flaks alike: it is a handbook, not only on how to win, but how to make sure your opponent loses." Minor wrinkling at bottom of spine. Dust jacket has some minor rubbing/tiny shallow dints on rear panel.

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Fifth House 1995 1895618657 / 9781895618655 First Edition Near Fine Very Good+
294 pp, 10" H. B&w photographs, maps. "Between 1915 and 1946, some ten thousand men were put to work in western Canada's national parks. They were the country's unwanted - unskilled foreign workers, the jobless and the homeless, conscientious objectors, perceived enemies of the state, and prisoners of war. These men had committed no crimes, but because of war or depression, they were seen as a possible threat to public order and a potential source of civil unrest. The Canadian government consequently sent them to the parks - world-renowned places such as Banff, Jasper, and Yoho - where they were held under duress in isolated work camps for months, sometimes years. (This) is the first comprehensive, illustrated history of the national park labour camp story, examining where and when the various groups were interned and how they were treated and employed. It also describes their significant contributions to the built environment of the parks - including many of the heritage buildings - at a time when such development would not normally have been undertaken." Book is Near Fine. Dust jacket gas a tiny scuff/dent on rear panel, tiny light scuff at top of rear flap-fold.
