Brown, Robin A. Foreword by Squadron Leader Neville Duke. SHARK SQUADRON: THE HISTORY OF NO 112 SQUADRON R.F.C., R.A.F. 1917-1975. England Crecy 1994 0947554335 / 9780947554330 First Edition Hard Cover Very Good+ Very Good+ 304 pp, large 8vo (10" H). B&w photographs, maps, drawings. "(A) magnificent tribute to the men and machines of 112 recording their history from the First World War to the mid-Seventies when the Squadron was disbanded. Included in the book are appendices that list the squadron's 'victory' claims, its aircrew losses in the air, known serial numbers and aircraft destroyed or damaged as a result of enemy action. The book is complemented by over 150 photographs most of which were taken from private albums and will, no doubt, provide an invaluable source for researcher, historian and enthusiast alike. The Squadron was probably the most publicised RAF unit of the war not only because of its distinctive 'sharks mouth' markings but also for its remarkable combat record." Minor wrinkling at top/bottom of spine. Dust jacket has a tiny corner crease on each flap, very minor wrinkling at top of spine

Chappell, F.R. Foreword by Air Commodore C.J. Mount. WELLINGTON WINGS: AN RAF INTELLIGENCE OFFICER IN THE WESTERN DESERT. Somerton, Somerset Crecy 1992 0947554270 / 9780947554279 Hard Cover Fine Very Good+ 282 pp, 9 1/2" H. B&w photographs, maps. "The author was a squadron and wing intelligence officer and kept long and detailed diaries of the day to day life in the Desert Group, and on these the book is largely based. The result is a vivid and realistic picture of the Desert atmosphere; he communicates the tenseness during the nights when the Wellingtons were away on missions, the crashes, the accidents, the debriefings, and the dreaded sandstorms. He recaptures the excitement of the perilous operations, some of which he flew on himself, as well as the lighter moments during stand downs and leave periods. This is an outstanding contribution to aviation history, conveying as it does not only individual heroisms but the corporateness of a squadron in wartime." Book is Fine. Dust jacket has very minor edge wrinkling, minor rubbing, one or two minor shallow dents on rear panel.

Franks, Norman. BUCK McNAIR: CANADIAN SPITFIRE ACE. THE STORY OF GROUP CAPTAIN R W McNAIR DSO, DFC & 2 Bars, Ld'H, CdG, RCAF. London Grub Street 2001 1902304748 / 9781902304748 First Edition Hard Cover Near Fine Near Fine 179 pp, large 8vo (9 7/16" H). B&w photographs, Spitfire profiles. "Robert 'Buck' McNair came from Nova Scotia, the second of three sons born of a mix of Scottish and German parents. As a young man he became interested in flight, and was lucky enough to be able to fly floatplanes off the Canadian lakes. When war came, he went through flight training in Canada, sailed to England, and in the summer of 1941 found himself in the newly formed 411 Squadron RCAF. Eventually this unit began flying sweeps over Northern France and he saw his first combat actions during that autumn. An aggressive fighter pilot, he was chosen by his Canadian CO to accompany him to the besieged island of Malta in the spring of 1942, to coincide with the arrival on that island of the first Spitfires." McNair went on to win three DFCs and a DSO among other awards and although he was twice wounded, his score of victories reached 16, "with others probably destroyed and damaged. This is a remarkable story of courage and heroism by one of the Second World War's top-scoring fighter pilots who inspired his men and fellow pilots in actions above the skies of France and Malta, and who, despite being almost blind in one eye, continued to lead and spur his men onto greater actions." One very tiny corner bump to front board. Dust jacket has very minor edge wear/wrinkling, minor rubbing.

Ishoven, Armand van. THE LUFTWAFFE IN THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN. Shepperton Ian Allan 1998 1550680501 / 9781550680508 Reprint Soft Cover Near Fine 128 pp, 4to (11 3/8" H). Profusely illustrated with b&w photographs. "The Battle of Britain has always been seen as one of the major turning points of the war: the might of the Luftwaffe, devastator of half of Europe, turned towards the beleaguered British Isles to stamp out the RAF and prepare the way for Operation Sea Lion - the first proper invasion of Great Britain since 1066. (The author has) produced a fascinating collection of eyewitness accounts and reports - many produced while the heat of battle was still on the writers - and a staggering number of German photographs, few of which have been published before. All in all it is a dramatic account of what it was like to fight on the other side to 'the few' during the battle of Britain." Interior - clean and tight with no previous ownership marks. Exterior - clean and bright. Fine
