3 Foss, Michael. Introduction by Lt.-General Sir Brian Horrocks. THE ROYAL FUSILIERS (THE 7TH REGIMENT OF FOOT).
London Hamish Hamilton 1967 First Edition Hard Cover Very Good+ Very Good
154 pp, 8vo (8 3/4" H). B&w illustrations, music notation for "The British Grenadiers" and "The Seventh Royal Fusiliers". "After more than 280 years of turbulent history, the Royal Fusiliers look back on a career that has taken them to nearly every country in which Englishmen have fought. The Fusilier has not always been well-treated, and not always well-liked, but his achievements - and his failures - have helped to decide the course of the British nation. Over the years, in their many campaigns, the Fusiliers developed a certain way of doing things, a certain style. They formed a tradition. And this tradition, because it grew out of the fundamentals of British character and British life, still has value for the soldiers of today." Previous owner's small stamp on each of front endpapers, faint erased pencil mark on free front endpaper, very light browning to top of textblock. Dust jacket has light wrinkling - mainly at top of spine and flap-folds, light browning to edges, minor rubbing, old price label on front flap.

THE COMMANDOS AT DIEPPE: REHEARSAL FOR D-DAY. OPERATION CAULDRON, NO 4 COMMANDO ATTACK ON THE HESS BATTERY, AUGUST 19TH, 1942., Fowler, Will.
4 Fowler, Will. THE COMMANDOS AT DIEPPE: REHEARSAL FOR D-DAY. OPERATION CAULDRON, NO 4 COMMANDO ATTACK ON THE HESS BATTERY, AUGUST 19TH, 1942.
London Collins 2002 0007111258 / 9780007111251 First Edition Hard Cover Very Good Very Good
256 pp, large 8vo, (9 3/8" H). B&w maps, photographs. "History's overriding view of the Dieppe raid in 1942 is that of a catastrophic disaster, with thousands of Canadian and British troops killed or captured. Often overlooked is No 4 Commando's successful supporting element of the raid to disable the heavy German guns that threatened the supporting ships at sea. No 4 Commando's training and preparation for their part in the raid was an excellent example of operational planning, its leadership was superb and its luck held. Quite apart from this first use of Commando's, this raid was also the first instance in which US troops fired shots at their European enemy in WWII. Will Fowler has been able to interview surviving members of No 4 Commando, and with extensive research of official records has pieced together a terrific blow by blow account of one of the most daring early Commando raids of the Second World War." Light wrinkling at top of spine, remainder mark on bottom of textblock, two tiny soiling specks on fore-edge of textblock, very light browning to edges of textblock. Dust jacket has light edge wrinkling - mainly at top of spine and flap-folds, minor remainder mark at bottom edge of panels/flaps.
