New York Harper & Brothers 1962 Hard Cover Very Good Very Good-
181 pp, 8vo (8 3/8" H). Layout of Silverstone. "Nick Bailey, the hero of 'Four-Wheel Drift', has now become the number one driver on the works team of Sir Reginald Yates, blustery owner of Yates Carburetors, Ltd. With the aid of his friend Sam Jetson, the brilliant mechanic with the inquiring mind and nimble fingers, Nick has pushed his Lioness to victory in the Monaco and Dutch Grand Prix and hopes to finish the season as World Champion. Then in the trial runs for the Belgian Grand Prix, the Lioness of the team's number two driver, Eddy Lash, is sabotaged and cracks up. Eddy is seriously injured, and Sir Reggie's top-secret fuel-injector is missing from the wrecked car! More troubles follow (and) Nick's bid for the World Championship seems doomed, as victory eludes him in one race after another. In a book that is as packed with thrills as any Grand Prix, Bruce Carter once again proves himself to be a masterful storyteller with a thorough knowledge of racing men, machines, and events." 7 Snow, Hank. With Jack Ownbey and Bob Burris. THE HANK SNOW STORY.
Urbana University of Illinois Press / Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame 1994 0252020898 / 9780252020896 First Edition Hard Cover Near Fine Near Fine
555 pp, 9 1/4" H. B&w photographs. "(Traces Hank Snow's) life from humble beginnings, through his emergence as an entertainer in Canada, the United States, and throughout the world, to his stature as one of the most influential figures in country music today. But more than a rags-to-riches memoir, this book presents Hank's life and career in his own voice, with remarkable candor and incredible detail. It provides the first extensive look at the early development of country music in Canada, reveals the inner workings of the music industry (including Hank's vital and unsung role in launching Elvis Presley's career), frankly discusses the nonglamorous side of stardom, and offers the reflections of an outspoken artist who has been professionally involved with country music for nearly sixty years. Through Ernest Tubb's intercession, he made his debut on Nashville's Grand Ole Opry. Disheartened by the lack of audience response, Hank nearly abandoned his dream. Then he recorded a song he had written, 'I'm Movin' On'. It climbed to the top of the charts, staying at number one for twenty-nine weeks. More hits followed, and his life and career changed forever. Over the years, Hank has entertained servicepeople on military bases in Korea, Europe, and Vietnam. Remembering his own (difficult) childhood, he established the Hank Snow Foundation for the Prevention of Child Abuse. (He was) elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame and to the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame." Minor twist to spine. Dust jacket has very minor edge wrinkling otherwise clean and bright.

Toronto Doubleday Canada 1980 0385147228 / 9780385147224 First Edition Hard Cover Very Good Very Good
350 pp, 9 1/4" H. B&w pictorial endpapers, photographs, reproductions, map. "(T)ells the story of a major North American city, from its earliest beginnings to the present day. Etienne Brule, who portaged the Chaudiere Falls in 1610, was the first white man to view the site of the future capital. He was followed by a procession of explorers, fur traders, and missionaries, but it was not until the year 1800 that the first permanent settlers arrived in the area. By the time Colonel John By completed the Rideau Canal in 1832, Bytown had become a boom town. In 1858, Queen Victoria's choice of the newly named Ottawa as the capital of Canada assured it a central place in the history of the fledgling nation. This comprehensive and fast-paced narrative explores every aspect of Ottawa's development into a beautiful modern city that still retains much of the charm of a small town. It tells a lively tale of royalty and rogues, commerical buccaneers and civil servants, soldiers and statemen, missionaries and millionaires. From the laying of the cornerstone of the Parliament Buildings in 1860 to the Rideau Club fire of 1979, the author neglects no important civic event, nor any significant public or private enter-prise." 1" piece missing at bottom of front pastedown (folded under itself), tiny bump at top of spine, minor corner wear. Dust jacket has very light edge wear, tiny tear and creases at top of spine - archivally taped, minor rubbing.
