Gil Reid's artwork captured the railroad scene around Naples, Italy, in 1944; Photo Classics: An all-color look at wartime railroading on the Santa Fe, Soo Line, C&IM, Atlantic Coast Line, and Key System; A Soldier's "Wartime Fan Trip": How a man rode trains over 20,000 miles in 2 years, courtesy of Uncle Sam; EMD's Shock Troops: While helping to defeat the Axis abroad, early E units, FT's, and switchers battled steam at home; Recalled to Active Duty: Marginalized by highways and the Depression, electric interurbans served with distinction during the war; Troop Cars: Boxcar-inspired troop sleepers and kitchen cars were answers to the railroads' wartime capacity crunch; Close Call at Clevilas Tunnel: a Virginian Railway operator's quick thinking prevented a catastrophe. Interior - clean and tight with no previous ownership marks. Exterior - very small crease at top corner of front cover - migrates into first few pages. Light wear at top/bottom of spine.
