696 pp, 16mo (6 1/8" H). Thin burgundy leather over card covers/spine - gold lettering and decoration on spine, top edge gilt. Burgundy endpapers integral ribbon bookmark, sepiatone illustrations, including frontispiece, decorated title page. **No dustjacket or slipcase.** Wishing to provide for his beloved granddaughter's future beyond the takings of their 'curiosity shop', Little Nell's grandfather takes to gambling and, through borrowing from the moneylender Daniel Quilp, loses everything they own. As beggars, they head to the Midlands and encounter many adventures, but the grandfather has lost his grip on reality and the strain of looking after them is too much for Nell. Very light wear at top/bottom of spine and at corners, slight fading to spine colour.
