68 pp, 11 1/4" H. Red/orange cloth with gilt and black lettering on spine, gilt lettering and decoration on front board. Printed on buff-colored pages with text and music notation (guitar and piano) in black. Song titles in red, elvish script and decorations in red and gray. Unclipped dust jacket bears the $3.95 price. Contents: Foreword by Donald Swann; The Road Goes Ever On; Upon the Hearth the Fire Is Red; In The Willow-meads of Tasarinan; In Western Lands; Namarie (Farewell); I Sit beside theFire; Errantry; Notes and Translations. "Donald Swann has provided music for seven (of J.R.R. Tolkien's) songs - six from 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy and one from 'The Adventures of Tom Bombadil. Professor Tolkien has embellished its pages with Elvish script and has also provided a glossary of the Elvish terms used in the songs. Donald Swann's foreword explains the origins of the songs." Christmas inscription on front free endpaper in black fountain pen: "To Mum / Christmas 67 / Love, / Bobgh." 3" soft wrinkle at top of page leaf vii/viii and contents page. Dust jacket has minor edgew wrinkling, light soiling/rubbing at top of rear panel, small ghost sticker mark at bottom corner of front panel, very small faint stain at bottom of rear hinge area.
