238 pp, 8 5/8" H. Obituary from the Globe & Mail, 11/3/74 glued to rear free endpaper and a card stamped Dora Hood's Book Room Limited, signed by W. S. Wallace quoting a book, taped to rear pastedown. "This is the story of the author's experiences as owner and proprietor of Dora Hood's Book Room, in Toronto from 1928 to 1954." Contents: Preface; Beginner's Luck; Early Adventures in Book Buying; Catalogues and Bibliographies - Required Reading; My Colleagues; Reminiscences of Collectors and Book Buyers; Women, Collectors or Writers?; Talking Shop; The Arctic in Books; What Subjects Interest Canadian Collectors or Book Buyers?; Some Poswar Acquisitions; Publishers, the Booksellers and the Readers; Finis - The Book Room Passes to Distinguished Hands. Previous owner's bookplate on front pastedown, very light edge wear - mainly at top/bottom of spine, light wrnkling at bottom of spine, slight toning to top of text block. Dust jacket has light to moderate edge wear - mostly at top/bottom of spine and flap-folds, several small edge tears with creases and old tape on inside, light crease down spine, slight fading to spine color, very light rubbing/soiling on rear panel, protected in a mylar sleeve.
