355 pp, 8 3/4" H. Red cloth with gilt lettering/banding on spine. The autobiography of the self-proclaimed "Artistocrat of Crooks". Lucas was a con man who charmed his way through London high society in the early 20th century, using multiple false names and personas. This book was written after his release from prison, having been arrested for attempting to sell a bogus manuscript. He died in 1940. Bump at bottom corner of front board - migrates into the first few pages, light browning to edges of text block, very light rubbing and some faint color variation on boards, light fading to spine color, small ghost sticker mark at bottom of spine, wrinkling at top/bottom of spine, a few pages with a tiny corner crease, some splitting in paper at rear inside hinge - hinge holding well, two small light stains in top margin of page 39, dog-ear crease at top corner of page 197, light toning in margins of pages.
