Unpaginated, 12 1/4" H. Blue cloth spine, illustrated, paper-covered boards. Map endpapers, color and b&w illustrations throughout. The author-illustrators "read everything they could find about Lincoln's life, his sayings and his ways, and also about the period in which he lived. The finished book with its richly glowing (five-color) lithographs is as deeply American as the little boy and the man it depicts - a perfect introduction to one of our most loved Americans." Winner of the 1939 Caldecott Medal for the most distinguished American picture book for children. A few pages with soft creases at bottom edge, small very light soiling mark in margin of first text page, Christmas gift inscription on verso of front free endpaper, very light browning to edges of text block and some toning in margins of pages, wear at bottom edge of boards and at corners, minor bumping at corners and at top/bottom of spine. Dust jacket has light to moderate edge wear/wrinkling/creasing, some small chips and tears, light browning on the inside surface, protected in a mylar sleeve.
