249 pp, 9 3/4" H. Light green cloth with black lettering/decoration on spine and front board, top edge gilt. 22 b&w plates (all present) plus additional small b&w drawings. Contents: How the Whale Got His Throat; How the Camel Got His Hump; How the Rhinoceros Got His Skin; How the Leopard Got His Spots; The Elephant's Child; The Sing-Song of Old Man Kangaroo; The Beginning of the Armadillos; How the First Letter was Written; How the Alphabet was Made; The Crab that Played with the Sea; The Cat that walked by Himself; The Butterfly that Stamped. Many pages are wrinkled as though turned by an enthusiastic young reader. Splitting to paper on inside hinges (repaired) but boards are holding firmly with fabric still intact, areas of very light browning on endpapers, very small ink mark on front pastedown, fraying and tiny tears at top/bottom of spine, spine is browned, some edge and corner wear, soiling to boards including a small white paint stain on rear board, 2' thin scuff on rear board, small area of damage at fore-edge of fron board, light browning to fore-edge and bottom of text block
