271 pp, 6 1/4" H. Red cloth with gilt lettering/banding on spine, gilt borders and illustration of Dove Cottage on front board. The aim of this book is "to interpret the poems, by bringing out the singularly close connection between them, and the district of the English lakes, and by explaining Wordsworth's numerous allusions to the locality. It aims at being a guide to the Poems, as much as to the District; and to the District, only in so far as it is reflected in, and interpreted by, the Poems." Contents: Preface; Cockermouth, etc.; Hawkshead, Windermere, Coniston, etc.; Dove Cottage; Grasmere, etc.; Helvellyn, Ullswater, etc.; Ambleside, Langdale, Blea Tarn, etc.; Rydal Mount, Lake, etc.; Thirlmere, Keswick, Borrowdale, etc.; The Penrith District, etc.; The Duddon Valley; Notes. Previous owner's name, date (1911) and place in ink on verso of fronispiece - also a small light water mark at top corner; small air bubbles under rear pastedown; light browning to edges of text block; wrinkling at top/bottom of spine; corners are lightly bumped; light soiling, tiny dents and areas of light discoloration on boards; small stain at bottom of front board; a few very small dents on edges of boards.
