For thirty-five years, (her) books, workshops and correspondence courses have concentrated on the concept of sharing information. Her newest book, a collection of essays ranging in subject from occupational therapy to directions for dyeing, covers every aspect of the art today, with special emphasis on Mrs. McGown's recent revival of crewel work and orientals as related to hooked rugs. There are useful tips about how to make a roomsize rug as well as how best to hold the small hook. A book for the novice as well as for the expert, (it) encourages originality and effort and accords fully as much respect to the creator as to the created. Supplementing the text are 164 illustrations, sixteen in color, accompanied by descriptive copy which, to the person who hooks, will capably serve as instructions." Previous owner's name/address in felt-tipped pen on free front endpaper, book is cracked at pages 150/151 - pages holding firmly, light wrinkling at top/bottom of spine, a few tiny foxing marks on top of text block, spine slightly twisted. Dust jacket has edge tears/chips/creases, light to moderate edge wear, old tape repairs on inside surface, very light browning to some edges and on rear flap-fold, protected in a mylar sleeve.
