82 pp, oblong (6 1/2" H x 9 1/2" D). Oatmeal-coloured cloth with reddish brown lettering on spine, reddish-brown illustration on front board. Pictorial endpapers (Christmas Market at Quebec), 25 charming full-page colour illustrations. Signed by Hazel Boswell, underscored with a flourish and dated July 1938 on half title page. "I have been anxious to make this book as French Canadian in character as I could. In my illustrations I have therefore tried to follow the type of drawing and design that the French Canadian women make for their hooked rugs and other work." From the Author's Note. Very light soiling to edges of boards and spine, scattered very light small stains on boards, top/bottom of book and one in margin of page 48.
