"(D)esigned to be of direct assistance to the aircraft fitter who is concerned with the fitting and assembly of the components which form the completed aircraft. In order that the aircraft fitter may have a proper appreciation of the importance of his particular work, (the author) has taken special care to explain the function of various aircraft components. Precise details are then given regarding the use of special tools and instruments, including micrometers, the adjustable level, the Abney level and the aircraft-rigging board. The fitting of various types of hydraulic equipment, including the Exactor hydraulic remote control, receive special attention. Workshop processes which are of special importance to the aircraft fitter, i.e., the heat treatment of steel and duralumin and the riveting of aluminium and aluminium alloys are covered in considerable detail. Several valuable tables containing just those data likely to be required for quick reference by the aircraft fitter, and also a glossary of terms, form useful appendices to the book."
