"In the Introduction and the Documents that follow, an attempt has been made to illumine several facets of the history and in the process some of the Six Nations' social, military, and political affairs in old Ontario. The record is brought up to the mid-nineteenth century when the last sizable tracts of the original grant of 1784 were conveyed to white purchasers and the present reserve assumed its definitive form."
