B&w photographs. B&w and colour maps (many fold-out) - collated. Colour endpaper maps in vols. II & III. Colour frontispieces in all volumes. Volume I "deals with events in Canada, with the experience of the Army in Britain (including the raiding operations conducted from the British base), and with the war against Japan. The operations at Dieppe and Hong Kong are described more fully than in any previous account." Volume II "describes in detail the Canadian Army's part in the Italian campaign - from the invasion of Sicily in July 1943 to the transfer of the 1st Canadian Corps to North-West Europe in the spring of 1945. It rounds out the story of the campaign with an account of the final Allied offensive which ended with the capitulation of the German forces in Italy." Volume III "describes in detail the Canadian Army's part in the North-West European campaign - from the invasion of France on D Day, 6 June 1944, to the final capitulation of the German forces in May 1945. It rounds out the story of the campaign with an account of the repatriation of the Canadian Army and the work of the Canadian Army Occupation Force." Light edge wear to boards, light wrinkling at bottom of spines, light browning to most edges of text blocks - more on volume I, slight browning in margin edges of pages, previous owner's initials in ink at top corner of front pastedown of volumes II & III. Dust jackets have light edge wear/wrinkling with some delamination and tiny tears - mainly at top/bottom edges and bottom of spine, light browning on spines and some edges - also on flap-folds of volume I, some small bands of light fading to color on panels of volumes II & III, large tear across bottom half of front panel of volume II - archivally taped, slight fading to red lettering on spines of volumrs II & III. All dust jackets are now protected in mylar sleevea. This is a heavy set and will require extra postage to most destinations.
