No date, but presentation slip attached to front pastedown ("Presented by The Commissioners of Schools for the City of Halifax / To John U. Power / ? School / First Department / July, 1883.) Tissue-covered b&w frontispiece. Contents: Introduction; Wrecks of the Olden Time; An Ill-Fated Couple; Wreck of the "Halsewell"; Wreck of the "Earl of Abergavenny"; Burning of the "Kent"; Wreck of the "Rothsay Castle"; Lost on the Reef; Burning of the "Ocean Monarch"; Burning of the "Amazon"; Perils of the Scotch Coast; Wreck of the "Birkenhead"; Wrecks on the Irish Coast; Burnt at Sea; Wreck of the "Royal Charter"; Loss of the "London"; Loss of the "Captain"; Missing Ships; Wreck of the "Megaera"; Wreck of the "Northfleet"; Wreck of the "Atlantic". Light edge wear to boards, wrinkling at top/bottom of spine, heavy browning to edges of text block, faint liquid stains and some puckering of cloth on rear board, old 1883 school presentation plate on front pastedown, very light browning to pages, three small tears and two small holes in frontispiece protective tissue, two very small glue residue marks on title page, minor soiling.
