98 pp, 7 3/16" H. Brown cloth spine, paper covered boards. Three plates - the frontispiece is a hand-coloured illustration of mulberry leaves, labeled Plate II. Plate I, facing page 45, is a hand-coloured depiction of the life cycle of the silkworm. Plate III, facing page 87, gives diagrams of three silk reels in b&w. Contents: Introduction; Advertisement to this Edition; Preface; Part I: Culture of the Mulberry Tree; Part II: On Rearing Silk Worms; Part III: Reeling and Manufacturing Silk; Appendix: Short Historical Account of the Efforts of Silk Culture in this country; Letter: From Peter S. Du Ponceau to the Hon. Andrew Stevenson, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States. From the title page: "Published by direction of his Excellency Gov. Lincoln, agreeably to a resolve of the Commonwealth." Moderate edge wear, browning and soiling from handling on boards; waviness and browning to edges of text block; browning to endpapers ans illustration pages; waviness to pages, scattered foxing mostly on endpapers. tiny area of color loss on frontispiece illustration - offset on adjacent title page near gutter. Book protected in a stiff clear mylar cover.
