160 pp, 160 pp, 160 pp, 176 pp, small 8vos (7 5/8" H). Dark blue cloth with gold lettering and medium blue decoration on spines and front boards, small publisher's device on rear covers. Each volume contains 40 full page colour plates (collated), plus many smaller b&w illustrations. The fourth volume contains a section entitled "Eggs and Egg-Collecting" by R. Kearton, plus Classified and General Indices to all four volumes. Light to moderate wrinkling at top/bottom of spine, darkening to edges of textblocks. tiny stains on bottom of textblocks of vols. 1 & 4, light stain to top of textblock of vol. 4, fore-edge of textblock of vol. 4 has some variation in color, vol. 3 has one archivally taped tear at bottom edge of page leaf 109/110, vol. 3 has a soft crease down middle of approx. pages 65 to 98, vol. 2 has a soft crease down middle of approx. pages 32 to 95 with small creases at bottom of pages 32 to approx. page 72, vol. 2 also has small tear/crease at bottom fore-edge of pages 137 to 145, vol. 4 has a tiny dent in margin of page 124 to end of book, and a few tiny stains on some indes pages, tiny scuff on front board of vol. 4, all volumes have light edge wear, all volumes have some small areas of old tape residue at bottom of hinges/boards.
