Contents: List of Illustrations; Preface; Bibliography; Introduction (Extracting fiction from history - Range of inquiry - Ancient bounds of Acadie - Influence of geographical discovery - Loss of documents - Age of Louis XIV and his colonial policy: missions and fisheries; Authenticity and history of the documents - Watermarks - Social conditions); Chapter I (Minute of Condition between Sir William Alexander and Duncan Forbes, 1625, and Document of Council for New England, 1634-5, with Biographical details and other observations); Chapter II (Account of the Voyage of Monsieur de Meulles to Acadie, 1685-1686); Chapter III (Original and unpublished Census of Acadie by Gargas, 1687-1688); Chapter IV (Sojourn of Gargas in Acadie, 1687-1688); Chapter V (Letter of Vincent de Saccardy relating to Acadie, from Rochelles, 12th January 1690). Slight wrinkling at top/bottom of spine, minor soiling on edges of text block. Dust jacket has very light edge wrinkling - mainly at top/bottom of spine and flap-folds, light rubbing and soiling, darkening to the edge of flaps and flap-folds. Very Good+/Very Good
