"The Harvard Forest models were designed to portray, first, the history of the central New England forests, beginning with the first white settlement in Petersham; second, the silvic ultural practices developed at the Harvard Forest for application to local forest conditions; and, third, certain allied functions of modern forestry. The last-mentioned include a model on wildlife management, another on the control of soil erosi o n , and two models on forest fires, to emphasize the wastefulness of developing forests only to have them destroyed by human carelessness...." Interior - hand-written ink date correction in text of page 6, otherwise clean and tight with no other ow ne rship marks. Exterior - very light soiling, a few tiny faint water spots. Very Good
