1 Halberstadt, Hans. F-111 AARDVARK. WINGS NO 4.
Windrow & Greene, London, 1992, 1st edition.
96 pp, 10 3/16" H, soft cover. ISBN 1872004423 Profusely illustrated with colour photographs. Contents: Attack of the Aardvark; Walkaround; How to Fly the F-111. "(The Aardvark) can carry a massive payload (up to 45,000 lbs), to an enormous dist ance (3,000 miles on internal fuel alone), and deliver it effectively from high or low altitude. It is ruggedly strong: 'you can lose half your hydraulics and still fly the airplane home; you can fly it around with total electrical failure', says o ne of the pilots interviewed for this book. The F-111 has a unique 'escape pod' cockpit section; the late models can handle the most modern laser-designed munitions; and the ECM 'Raven' version reduces the enemy's radar defence displays to mush. T he F-111 has seen combat since Vietnam; it was the implement chosen to chastise Gadaffi in April 1986, flying from its British bases; and it was one of the unsung heroes of the Gulf War, delivering every kind of attack - strategic bombing, tactic al ground-attack, and battlefield interdiction." Interior - clean and tight with no previous ownership marks. Exterior - minor rubbing, blacked-out price label on rear cover. Very Good+

2 Halberstadt, Hans. MARINE MUSCLE: HORNET AND HARRIER. WINGS NO.5.
Windrow & Greene, London, 1993, 1st edition.
96 pp, 10 3/16" H, soft cover. ISBN1872004474 Profusely illustrated with colour photographs. "The McDonnell Douglas/Northrop F/A-18 Hornet and McDonnell Douglas AV-8B Harrier II provide the 'muscle' of the US Marine Corps' air element. Dedicated to just one mission - supporting the Marine rifleman down there in the dirt, at whatever cost - they form a versatile, hard-hitting, highly motivated element of the Corps' overall ability to project American power overseas. Neither is particularl y fast: but each is perfectly suited to its special roles. The Hornet, famous for its agility and accurate delivery of a wide range of ordnance, is the perfect fighter/bomber combination. The remarkable V/STOL Harrier can get airborne within minu te s from just about any hard surface in the newly captured beachhead, to put 'a world of hurt' on the enemy's front line. Between them they can clear the skies over the beachhead of enemy aircraft; respond instantly to the call for close air suppo rt at the forward edge of battle; and carry out interdiction bombing along the enemy's rear lines. (This book) presents a fascinating close-up look at both these battle-proven aircraft and their missions." Interior - clean and tight with no previo us ownership marks. Exterior - clean and bright.
