B&w photographs, maps, diagram. "The ferns of the Ottawa District have been under study for over 75 years. Several lists of species found in the District have been prepared but no flora with keys and descriptions has ever been published. An attempt is made here to bring together the known information on the ferns of this region and to provide a means by which interested persons m a y b e c ome familiar with them. For the purposes of this manual the Ottawa District is defined as the circular area surrounding the City of Ottawa, Ontario, and having a radius of 30 miles. Although the area under consideration is limited, the in fo r ma ti on is applicable toa much wider area of Ontario and Quebec..." "The selections contained in this book make up a sequence which records the history of the Great War from the stirring days of August, 1914, to the openin g of the Peace Conference in January, 1919. These selections of verse and prose are arranged, not necessarily in chronological order, but still with a view to indicate approximately the historical succession of great events and the varying moods o f those authors and speakers who have been the voices of the allied nations during the fifty-two months of warfare." Book cracked in a few places - pages holding firmly, tiny tears and crease on fore-edge of three pages - archivally taped, very li gh t browning to pages -two pages with moderate browning from laid-in paper, small area of text loss on page 16 (2 lines of text effected - each missing one word) - offset on opposite page, a few tiny holes in free front end paper and surface pa p er los s on free front endpaper and front pastedown - insect damage, heavy browning to edges of text block, scattered color loss and light soiling on covers.
