Leo Cooper, London, 1996.
332 pp, large 8vo (9 3/16" H), soft cover. ISBN 0850525462 B&w illustrations. The Bickersteth War Diary was begun in August 1914 by Ella Monier-Williams Bickersteth, at the urgings of her son Burgon, with the idea of sharing the news of happening s in Europe with another son who was in Australia at the time. She was to continue it for four and a half years and then resumed her task during the Second World War. The resulting volumes, full of newspaper clippings and letters have been edi t e d by her grandson to present a personal look at the life of a family that provided soldiers and chaplains to the British Army and suffered the loss and heartache that were common to many families of that time. Interior - clean and tight with no o th er ownership marks. Exterior - small creases at bottom corner of front cover, very light rubbing, very minor edge wear. Very Good
