Burgundy endpapers, sepia tone plates, including frontispiece, decorated title page. The last novel in 'The Marie Antoinette Romances' series. Very light browning to edges of textblock, minor edge wear, light wrinkling at top/bottom of spine. Dust jacket has very ligh t e dgewear/wrinkling, small chip at bottom of spine - a few tiny chips/tears elsewhere, very light rubbing/soiling, light browning to spine and flap-folds. 378 pp, 16mo (6 1/8" H), thin burgundy leather over card covers/spine - gold lettering and decoration on spine, top edge gilt - in slipcase. Burgundy endpapers, integral ribbon bookmark, sepiatone illustrations, including frontispiece. When Republican Maurice Lindey meets a beautiful young woman during the Reign of Terror, he unwittingly becomes involved in a royalist plot to rescue Marie Antoinette. Slight fading to spine colour, very light corner wear, two tiny scuffs in "LE" of spine title. Slipcase has light edge wear and some light rubbing.

762 pp + 703 pp - 2 volume set - 16mo (6 1/8" H), thin burgundy leather over card covers/spines - gold lettering and decoration on spines, top edges gilt - in slipcases. Burgundy endpapers, b&w frontispieces. When Edmond Dantes is wrongly imprisoned during the Bourbon Restoration, he plans his escape and revenge on those plotted against him. Volume II has minor fading to spine colour. Volume II has four very light small stains on fore-edge of text block. Both volumes have minor soiling and a few small rub marks on covers. Slipcases have light to moderate edge wear and one or two splits at the rear joints.

"This translation is based upon the anonymous translation first published by Routledge in 1857." Further adventures of the 'Three Musketeers' (Athos, Porthos, Aramis) and D'Artagnan. Slight bump to bottom corner of front board. Slipcase has very minor rubbing, one small rear bottom corner bump.
