Nine scholars have contributed to this book, which explores the daily life of the inhabitants during the time period 1792-1796 when the area served as the capital of Upper Canada. (It) presents a detailed look at how the people of the area lived two hundred years ago. Various aspects of life are explored - from the clothing they wore to the homes they lived in, the transportation networks they used, and the taverns where they spent their leisure time. Other topics covered include the political culture, military life, early town planning, religious beliefs, food and medical understanding."
