"(Air Marshal Sir Ivor Broom) completed three tours of operations over enemy territory including 31 extremely dangerous low level attacks on enemy targets from the beleaguered island of Malta. This is not only the story of a skilful and courageous pilot but also relates his varied and interesting post-war life. In 1955 he set a new speed record flying from Canada to England in a Canberra bomber, became Commandant of CFS which included the manage-ment and operational control of the Red Arrows and commanded the strategically important No. 11 Group during the period of the Cold War. (I)n civilian life (he has been ) an international aviation consultant. His most recent activity was to respond, as the representative of the Bomber Command Association, on TV to the controversial Canadian film on Bomber Command." Tiny light mark on free front endpaper.
