Sinel, Mr. Harrison, A.G., foreword. THE GERMAN OCCUPATION OF JERSEY: A COMPLETE DIARY OF EVENTS FROM JUNE 1940 TO JUNE 1945. Evening Post, Jersey, 1945. 298 pp, 8vo (8 1/8" H), soft cover. From the Foreword: "I have been in the position, perhaps more than anyone else, to appreciate the risks that Mr. Sinel took in this work and a witness to the fact that on many occasions notes for the Diary were being written at 'The Evening Post' Office under the very eyes of the Germans. It was not in ignorance of the risks involved that the author undertook this work, for a short time after the arrival of the Germans in the Island a senior member of 'Th e Evening Post' staff was imprisoned by the Secret Police for six weeks merely on the suspicion of writing a diary of local events, although they were unable to find or prove anything. So this Diary has been compiled, and I feel sure that its o b j e c tiveness and the omission of the fantastic rumours which were continually in circulation in the rumour-infested Island will prove it to be an accurate record of day-to-day happenings during this little Island's ordeal by German domination.
