" 'Singer of the Bush' contains Paterson's literary works up to his return from the Boer War. This in cludes his famous poems 'The Man from Snowy River', 'Clancy of the Overflow' and 'Waltzing Matilda', the poignant 'On Kiley's Run' and the well-loved Saltbush Bill poems. Previously unpublished work includes 'Illalong Children', Paterson' s r e m i n i s c ences of his childhood on properties in western and southern New South Wales....'Song of the Pen' presents Paterson's literary works of the period 1901-1941. During these years he produced a significant amount of poetry and many pr o se w or ks . A mo ng st the poetry, readers will be pleased to find more of Saltbush Bill and the favorites, 'In the Stable', 'The Old Timer's Steeplechase' and 'Any Other Time'. Previously unpublished work includes 'The Cook's Dog', a novel se t in the Au str al ian bu sh; the treatise, 'Racehorses and Racing', a layman's guide to the turf; 'Constantine the Great', a delightful short story for children; and the talks on a wide selection of topics that Paterson gave for wireless and liv e aud ienc e du ring th e 19 30s. ...I n both volumes, the works are presented in chronological order, according to date of publication, except where publication was delayed.
