"This is the first in-depth story of the world's first supersonic fighter, the North American F-100 Super Sabre. Developed as a fighter-interceptor , later converted to a tactical nuclear-armed strike fighter, the Super Sabre was eventually proven in the crucible of the Vietnam war as an effective and highly lethal fighter-bomber. In this detailed study (the author) presents the results of tw o years of research, tracking down dusty archival records, interviewing pilots and airmen, and assembling private photographic records to bring readers much unpublished material. The full story of the Super Sabre's controversial design, developme n t, and testing is revealed in these pages for the first time. The book takes you into the cockpit of an F-100 on a strike against VietCong positions, flying at low level on a Misty FAC mission, or 'trolling for SAM' as a Wild Weasel I. It show s h ow the Air National Guard took a castoff aircraft and made it into an effecient weapons system, setting new marks for operational readiness and effectiveness. And it traces the 'Hun's' service with the air forces of Denmark, France, Nationalist C hi na and Turkey." Interior - clean and tight with no previous ownership marks.
