1. Home Guard: A Handbook for the L.D.V. (Local Defence Volunteers) - 126 pp, 5 1/4" H. September 1940 - reprint in same month as first printing. Red/orange cloth with black and gray lettering. Contents: Author's Foreword; What the Job Is; Resisting the Invader; The Watch of the Skies; Defence Works and Anti-Tank Warfare; The Arms of the L.D.V.; The Use of the Rifle; The Last Word. 2. Spot Them in the Air! - 32 pp, staples in wraps, 8 3/8" H, published by the Daily Mirror, n.d. B&w photographs and three-view silhouettes of British and German aircraft with short descriptions. 3. Popular Guide to the German Army No. 4 - Engineers - 8 pp formed from a single folded sheet - folded size 9 5/8" H x 7 3/6" W - prepared by the General Staff, War Office, July 1941. B&w diagrams, double page drawing. Includes sections on River Crossings and Booby Traps. 4. Popular Guide to the German Army No. 5 - Reconaissance Units (Recce Units) - format as above - 9 13/16" H x 7 1/2" W - November 1941. B&w organization charts, double page drawing. Both these guides have the following printed on the front page "Not to be published. The information given in this document is not to be communicated, either directly or indirectly, to the Press or to any person not holding an official position in His Majesty's Service." Home Guard: A Handbook for the L.D.V. Interior - previous owner's pencilled notes on illustration page 96, most pages have some soft wrinkling at the fore-edge otherwise clean and tight with no other ownership marks. Exterior - light wear at top/bottom of spine, light edge wear - mainly on spine, corner crease on front cover, very light soiling on rear cover, wrinkling/creasing on spine, darkening/soiling to edges of text block. Spot Them in the Air. Interior - very small crease and some foxing at top corner of first page. Exterior - area of foxing marks at top corner of front cover, light wear on spine, very light browning and light soiling on rear cover. Popular Guides No 4 & No 5 have 1/4 fold creases, minor browning, light to moderate wrinkling, No 5 has a 2" fold tear archivally taped and several tiny holes at fold intersections.
