816 pp, 16mo (6 1/8" H), thin burgundy leather over card covers/spine - gold lettering and decoration on spine, top edge gilt - in slipcase. Burgundy endpapers, b&w frontispiece. Dickens' first novel, following "Sketches by Boz". A group of sporting gentlemen range around England by coach, meeting unique characters and getting into unusual situations. The book introduces the popular figure Sam Weller, the fixer/servant to Mr. Pickwick, a wealthy, retiree and president of the Club. Minor colour loss on front pastedown, minor wear at corners of covers, very minor wear at top of spine. Slipcase has moderate edge/corner wear, loss of paper at top/bottom rear edges, light rubbing on panels.
