448 pp, 16mo (6 1/8" H), thin burgundy leather over card covers/spine - gold lettering and decoration on spine, top edge gilt - in slipcase. Burgundy endpapers, b&w frontispiece. "Please sir, I want some more." Dickens' story of the journey of a young orphan, his abuse by those in authority, his escape to London where he does his best to elude a criminal gang determined to corrupt him and his eventual rescue. A dark story of child labour, criminals, street children, poverty and despair, peopled with memorable characters like the Artful Dodger, Fagin, Mr. Bumble, Bill Sikes and Nancy. Small area of very light stains on fore-edge of text block, very small crease at bottom corner of pages 167 to 176, minor edge wear to covers, tiny faint scuff on front cover. Slipcase has light edge and corner wear, very small dent on one front edge, light creasing along top/bottom panels, top/bottom panels are concave.
