263 pp, 8 3/8" H. Blue cloth with gilt lettering/decoration on spine, top edge blue, map endpapers. "(T)akes us on (an) expedition with the French in Revolutionary days, using hitherto unpublished records, letters, and diaries to supply fresh and lively detail. We sail aboard the French frigates to Newport; march with Rochambeau's men from Narragansett Bay to the capes of Virginia and Yorktown; see life in the colonies through the eyes of such distinguished visitors as Lafayette, de Grasse, Berthier, and Bougainville. Interspersed are intimate glimpses of Washington in the field, visits to Jefferson at Monitcello, and an account of the subsequent careers of the men who helped us win independence." Light edge wear, light browning to fore-edge of text block, light wrinkling at top/bottom of spine. Dust jacket has edge chips and tears (two old tape repairs on inside), piece missing at bottom of spine, edge creases, light browning at edges and on rear panel, light soiling on rear panel, protected in a mylar sleeve.
