200 pp, 9 7/8" H. B&w photographs, drawings. Inscribed on front free endpaper: "To John / From Jackie Bryden" and with an additional notation "Xmas 1970" perhaps in another hand. David Bell's (d. 1965) articles on road cycling are set mainly in Scotland, but extend to England, Ireland and the Continent. Also included are some nature notes. "Davie's interest in the bicycle started in 1927 when, encouraged by Jackie Bryden, the late Andrew Shearer and the late Tom McKean of Ayr Health and Strength Club, he became a week-end cyclist. On his first run with Jackie Bryden he pedalled from Prestwick to Stirling and back on a 'sit up and beg' upright bicycle, a distance of over 100 miles." From the biographical note. Previous owner's bookplate on front pastedown, very light wrinkling at top/bottom of spine, three small air bubbles on front board and one slightly larger one on the rear board, tiny slight bump at top corner of both boards. Dust jacket has wrinkling at top edge with tiny chips/tears mainly at top of spine and flap-folds, light wrinkling at bottom edge with two very tiny tears, browning to spine and light browning to edges and flap-folds, now protected in a mylar sleeve.
