"With (Gedye) the reader is introduced to the wonders of Austria's natural beauties, her architectural treasures, her famous collections of pictures, her music and the character of her delightful inhabitants; and expert advice is given on where to swim, ski, fish or shoot, and on the choice of local dishes and wines. (At the time of writing - 1955) more than two-thirds of Austria is open to the western tourist, and in the Tyrol, Vorarlberg, Salzburg, Upper Austria, Carinthia and Styria he will find some of the most attractive scenery in Europe. Although Vienna is surrounded by the Russian zone, there is no difficulty in visiting it. In spite of the scars of battle, the splendours of the gothic and baroque churches, the medieval alleyways, and the picturesque suburbs of the lovely old city are almost unchanged." Minor edge wear, tiny foxing marks on top of text block, three tiny stains on fore-edge of text block, one tiny corner bump. Dust jacket has light browning - mainly on spine, edges and flap-folds, a few tiny foxing marks, a few tiny edge tears and one 1" edge tear - archivally taped.
